“Neroli was the first fragrance we created for the Aromatics collection, inspired by an original 18th century French formula allegedly blended for Napoleon Bonaparte who loved the Neroli scent. It was launched in 1981 and called Czech & Speake Eau de Cologne. The challenge, as always with a citrus based fragrance, was creating depth and longevity so we turned to ylang-ylang as an anchor to add the perfect powdery finish. To reflect the Napoleonic heritage, I designed the packaging print motif around the shape of his famous bicorne hat. I never tire of wearing this classic, refreshing scent…”
